Khorramabad to host Fajr Festival

One of the movie theaters in the Iranian province of Lorestan has been scheduled to play host to the 35th edition of the Fajr Film Festival.

This edition of Iran’s Fajr Film Festival will be held at Esteghlal Cinema Theater in the city of Khorramabad, capital of Lorestan Province, along with several other cities across the country.

The cinema will display 16 titles of the main competition section of the festival during four show times every day.

Located in the Zagros Mountains, Khorramabad is the capital of Iran’s Lorestan Province. The region is quite scenic and has several attractions, such as 5 Paleolithic cave-dwelling sites.

Fajr Festivals are held annually in Iran during the Fajr Decade (literally meaning ten days of dawn), which marks the anniversary of the ten days from the return of Imam Khomeini, founder of the Islamic Republic, to Iran (February 1) until the victory day of the Islamic Revolution (February 11) in 1979.

Established in 1982, the Fajr International Film Festival celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

Since its establishment, the Fajr Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.

The screening sessions will last for 8 days from February 2 - 9.
